Champions League Américas 2021 – Primeira fase: Flamengo 79 x 69 Minas

Atual vice-campeão da competição, o Flamengo estreou na Champions League com vitória contra o Minas, líder do NBB, por 79 x 69.

Foram 35 minutos de um excelente basquete. A diferença beirava os 20 pontos, porém, nos minutos finais a vantagem chegou a cair para nove: 74 x 65. Mas o Rubro-Negro soube controlar a partida e, com uma cesta de Chuzito de três, enterrou a reação adversária.

A competição agora terá um novo formato nos playoffs. Os dois melhores dos quatro grupos da competição (A, B, C e D) se classificam para a próxima fase e, uma vez classificados, um sorteio será realizado para determinar os jogos das Quartas de Final (1º de um grupo contra o 2º do outro) e das fases subsequentes. Todos os confrontos dos playoffs da Champions Americas serão decididos em jogo único.

Nessa quinta, jogam Minas x Instituto de Córdoba. Na sexta é a vez do Flamengo enfrentar os argentinos, no encerramento da primeira janela da competição, no Maracanãzinho, que ainda terão mais duas sedes, em Minas e na Argentina.

DESTAQUES

No Maracanãzinho, o destaque da noite foi Franco Balbi, com 11 pontos, nove assistências e seis rebotes. O cestinha foi Marquinhos, que anotou 16 pontos.

O JOGO

O Flamengo largou na frente, abrindo 8 x 0, com cestas de três de Olivinha e Marquinhos. Com mais uma cesta de Olivinha, o Rubro-Negro fez 11 x 2. A equipe seguia com a mão calibrada nos tiros do perímetro. Marquinhos fez 15 x 4 e o time da Gávea fechou em 19 x 10 o primeiro período.

No segundo quarto, o Minas reagiu pelas mãos de Ronald Rudson. O placar apontava 21 x 15. Na sequência, resposta do Flamengo com Lucas Martinez, matando de três: 24 x 15. A partida seguia equilibrada, até que  o Rubro-Negro abriu 15 pontos de frente após cestas de Marquinhos e Balbi: 34 x 19, para encerrar em 36 x 22.

No terceiro quarto, o clube da Gávea abriu sua maior vantagem: 45 x 26 com uma bola de três de Hetts. O Minas tentava reagir e não deixar o jogo escapar. Shaquille Johnson era a principal arma mineira, sendo o cestinha do confronto com 25 pontos. Porém, com bandejas de Balbi e Hetts e bolas de três de Yago e Demétrio, o Flamengo foi para os últimos dez minutos com 19 pontos de frente: 62 x 43.

No quarto final, com uma cesta de Yago e uma bandeja de Olivinha, o Rubro-Negro abriu 22 pontos de frente: 70 x 48. O confronto seguia controlado, até que novamente Shaquille Johnson tentou colocar água no chopp do Flamengo. Com bolas de três, a diferença caiu para nove pontos (74 x 65), faltando menos de dois minutos para o fim de jogo. Minas ainda teve mais uma posse de bola para tentar encurtar a diferença, mas desperdiçou. Na volta, Chuzito matou de três e enterrou as pretensões de reação mineira. Placar final: 79 x 69.
